鈥淓quinox Gallery is thrilled to announce representation of artist Gwenessa Lam,鈥 the gallery stated in a recent press release.

鈥淟am鈥檚 artwork stems from interests in perception and the compression of time and memory within images. Working in a variety of media including drawing and painting, Lam鈥檚 recent projects explore the ways in which cultural narratives are formed and evolve through historical objects and museum artifacts. Her work often aims to bring visibility to the overlooked or unseen elements which shape our environment in small and large ways.鈥

Upon joining 色库TV in 2020 as Associate Professor in Painting + Drawing in the Audain Faculty of Art, Gwenessa took a moment to speak with me about her multidisciplinary practice.

鈥淚鈥檓 always interested in questions that don't have an answer,鈥 she told me at the time. 鈥淎t the heart of any project that I do, I鈥檓 always questioning what it is I鈥檓 looking at. That鈥檚 the question that often begins a project.鈥
