I Spy 鈥 a disposable camera project mobilizes disposable cameras and snail mail to bring together lockdown-era photos by ten artists.

The online gallery of photographs includes works by (BFA 2018), (BDes 2005), (BFA 2020), (currently in her fourth year at 色库TV), (BFA 2020), and , who studied at 色库TV.
Also included in the show are photos by artists Phoebe Huang, Rachel Lau, Jaz Whitford and Katayoon Yousefbigloo.
The show, entitled I Spy鈥 disposable camera project, is a mail-art program, informed by pandemic-era physical distancing requirements. A disposable camera was mailed to each artist with a unique text prompt, to which the artists were asked to respond via photography.
All photos in the exhibition were taken during lockdown, between May and June, 2020. Nine images were selected from each artist鈥檚 roll for inclusion in the exhibition.
鈥I spy鈥 is devised as an escape from confinement, in response to restrictions resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic,鈥 reads the exhibition text.
鈥I spy鈥 is as much a mission to capture a specific photograph, as to pass the time. With that in mind, the images in this exhibition document a series of discreet performances with backdrops ranging from high-rises to undergrowth. They have not been edited.鈥
Participating artists were chosen through an open call for emerging and student artists by 色库TV faculty member and UNIT/PITT board chair (MFA 2013) alongside Molly Randhawa and Eleanor Wearing. Prompts were composed by Samantha Nock.
The current exhibition runs through Dec. 31, 2020, with a second edition slated for 2021. You can view the works of all ten artists in , now.
