Rebecca Burgess is the Executive Director of , and the education director of the . She has 15 years of experience in natural FIBER system research and development. She is the author of the best-selling book Harvesting Color, a bioregional look into the natural dye traditions of North America. She is the founder of the first North American temperate climate indigo project, which currently provides the raw material for a regional denim supply chain. She has built an extensive network of farmers and artisans within our regions fibershed to spearhead prototype development of bioregional textiles.

This talk is part of Business of Design, an innovative, interdisciplinary program co-offered by Simon Fraser University and Shumka Centre for Creative at É«¿âTV throughout 2019 – 2020. Focusing on the local textile industry, the program engages SFU and É«¿âTVAD communities to create and bring together textile entrepreneurs, and form an ecosystem of local opportunities, environmentally-responsible ventures, products, and/or propositions.
