Ece Arslan | earslan@ecuad.caYaazhin Pillay is a visual artist and post-secondary instructor based in Vancouver, BC. He aims to honor and explore Global Southern histories and perspectives to find new means for resistant action and decolonial methodologies. As a South African Indian, Yaazhin examines the experience of diasporic communities and attempts to highlight global networks of solidarity created through shared experience and tradition. His works promote an anti-apartheid, anti-imperial, anti-Eurocentric perspective, featuring imagery from Vedic philosophy and revolutionary histories. He states the continued efforts for unity and collaboration of indigenous and liberated communities worldwide, as the fundamental drive behind his production. Amandla Awethu!
